XXXII International Bicycle Touring Week by the Sea Eastern 7 - 13 April 2012

This event with its unique character was created many years ago. Since then, the town dedicates much attention to the lovers of bicycle tourism at Eastern, intensifying its efforts and "caresses" in order to make bike enthusiasts feel welcome and cosy. In Gabicce Mare bicycles are treated as jewels and cyclists are VIP-guests!

This is the secret behind the long-lasting success of this event, for which participants from Italy and abroad gather in Gabicce Mare for an Easter holiday that lasts 10 days. 7 beautiful routes run through the marvellous countryside of the Marches offer breath-takingly beautiful tours, where adventurers on bike can discover new country roads, castles, medieval dwellings in distant valleys, history, art and culture plus – why not? – many culinary delicacies!
Specialities such as pasta with chickpeas, tagliatelle, roasted porchetta, bread, piadina-flatbread, exquisite raw ham, homemade sweets, red and white wine will be ready at each stage…. so start dreaming!

The tours cover different distances featuring various degrees of difficulty, but thanks to the excellent technical assistance of SHIMANO everyone can master them. The International Bicycle Touring Week by the Sea as organized by the hotel owners of Gabicce Mare is the only one of its kind in Italy, as it includes a Road Police escort. The police protects and guides the cyclists with high security – in this way particpiants are granted a joyous, spectacular experience – a tradition that started with the first edition many years ago.
Stunning fireworks will welcome the friends of pedal power and they will be offered many occasions to party in the streets and the piazza with music and sea fish.

9.00 am Start of the bicycle touring group to Ca' Virginia Country House & Wellness Bike Hotel (www.cavirginia.it) - San Giorgio di Montecalvo in Foglia (66 km round trip).
Return to hotel for lunch.

Sunday, April 8th 
9.00 am Start of the bicycle touring group to Petriano (www.comune.petriano.pu.it)
(85 km round trip). Return to hotel for lunch.

Monday, April 9th
8.30 am Start of the bicycle tour from Gabicce Mare to Fontecorniale di Montefelcino (www.comune.montefelcino.ps.it) (79 km round trip).

Tuesday, April 10th 
9.00 am Start of the bicycle touring group to the "La Corte della Miniera" - Estate in Miniera (www.cortedellaminiera.it) (Urbino, 76 km round trip). Return to hotel for lunch.

Wednesday, April 11th 
9.00 am Start of the bicycle touring group to Tavullia (www.comuneditavullia.it) (46 km). Return to hotel for lunch.

Thursday, April 12th 
8.00 am Start of the bicycle touring group to the Furlo Nature Reserve (www.riservagoladelfurlo.it) (Acqualagna, 60 km) with refreshment.
11.00 am The group carries on to Serra Sant'Abbondio (www.ssabbondio.it - prolocossabbondio@virgilio.it) (30 km) with lunch.
Return at 3 pm by bus and bike transport with courtesy cars.

Friday, April 13th 
8.30 am Start of the bicycle touring group to Borgo di Piagnano (www.piagnano.it) - Sassocorvaro (www.comune.sassocorvaro.pu.it) (116 km round trip). Return to hotel for lunch.

9.30 pm Award Ceremony with music show at the Cinema Theatre Astra in the Viale della Repubblica 20, Gabicce Mare.

REGULATION AND SUBSCRIPTION

PARTICIPATION: only members of Federations or Sports Club can take part in this event. The touring cyclists are required to produce a permission as well as a declaration of the currency of the insurance and especially of third parties liability insurance coverage for Italy and abroad.

REGISTRATIONS: must be sent to the organization or to the hotel-owner/keeper or you can directly apply to the secretariat on Friday, April 6th from 3.00 pm to 7.30 pm and from 9.30 pm to 10.30 pm. for admission.

ENTRY FEE: the entry fee to the Bicycle Touring Week is € 60,00 (Special fee for the Hotels members of the club Gabicce Mare Bike). This amount includes the technical assistance, sanitary care and a gadget. It is possible to participate to the daily touring rides by paying € 20,00. Every morning one hour before departure the touring cyclists must personally stamp the attendance booklet.

MEDICAL SERVICE: includes ambulance with specialized healthcare personnel.

ESCORT CARS: only those providing services and bearing a special pass shall be permitted.

TOURING STANDINGS FOR PARTICIPANTS-AWARDS CEREMONY: the clubs that take part in all the stages of the bicycle touring event with at least five touring cyclists at the starting line will earn a place in the standings. Awards will be presented to the first 25 clubs, that participate in all tours: 10 points are earned for each rider participating in each tour. The daily and final standings will also include clubs with less than five touring cyclists at the starting line. The standings will be drawn up as follows: clubs: by adding up the total points obtained during the different stages throughout the week by all the touring cyclists of a given club. The club with the most points will win the trophy for the 32 INTERNATIONAL BICYCLING TOURING WEEK BY THE SEA, while local culinary specialties will be awarded to the clubs that follow the winner in the standings.

RULES: The Organizers do not accept any responsibility, either for themselves or their colleagues/organizational staff, for any accidents or damage to people or things which may occur before, during and after the event or as a result of the same. All touring cyclists must obligatorily observe the road regulations. Touring cyclists who ride beyond or after the protected and escorted group by the vehicles with signs stating "BEGINNING AND END OF THE EVENT" must scrupulously obey the traffic code, punishment proper civil responsibility and penalty. During the non-competitive rides, participants must respect the average speed set for each tour, which cannot exceed 25 km/h on plain.

IMPORTANT: CRASH HELMET MUST BE WORN The "International Bicycle Touring Week" is a bicycle touring meeting with start and finish within the group. The speed limit is 25 km/h. During the week the program may be modified for reasons beyond the organizers' control. The organizers will communicate any changes to the programme the morning before departure.
